Day 12: "One Watercolor A Day" Challenge: 3-Minute Landscape

Today's exercise was about making 3-minute watercolor landscapes. Here are some window views of DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn.

I'm doing one watercolor exercise a week, following a delightful book called "One Watercolor A Day", written by my art teacher Veronica Lawlor, with my other art teacher Margaret Hurst, and their co-members of Studio 1482 artist collective. Check out the One Watercolor A Day Facebook group, where participants of the challenge are posting their exercise results on weekly basis.

"Draftsmen's Congress" by Pawel Althamer. New Museum, NYC

Dalvero Academy artists came to New Museum's "Draftsmen's Congress" on Saturday, March 22, 2014, to participate in the ongoing collaborative installation by Pawel Althamer. Here's a video I put together of what it looked like. We had fun!

Mystic Seaport in New Year

New wood in the belly of the whale ship C. W. Morgan

Here are a few most recent drawings from Mystic Seaport. The Morgan restoration is coming to completion. It's all about new wood, new interior, new exterior, new energy and new mission.

C. W. Morgan is in the water. The masts are in. Rigging is in process.

Fresh From the Kiln

I've taken up ceramics. Learning wheel-throwing is not easy, but very enjoyable. I just love the feel of wet clay. It holds endless potential. My teacher encourages us: "It's just mud!" and I think "sure, with so many hopes projected onto it!" Ha! Here's my first crop, painted and glazed.

Day 8: "One Watercolor A Day" Challenge: Plant leaves.

I was on a short vacation in Dominican Republic last few days (ahh!), and was just mesmerized by the endless patterns of overlapping palm tree leaves. Here they are. The bigger painting is from the airport.
