Spain!

In the fall of 2019, my partner and I had such a blast in Spain! We began in Granada for a dear friend's wedding, where I drew the Flamenco performance. Then we proceeded to Barcelona. I couldn't wait to visit my beloved Sagrada Familia, for the 3rd time now. First visit happened over a decade ago, on my first solo reportage trip. The second visitation with Gaudi's masterpiece took place during the Urban Sketcher's 4th International symposium.  This time 'round, Sagrada Familia had made significant growth, had acquired many more towers and a start of the 3rd facade.  We visited the church three times during a 5-day stay in Barcelona, and it still felt like it wasn't enough... I have never been inside a more beautiful place. And I can't wait to see it again!

Southwest Vacation

America the Beautiful! Man, there is SO much to see and explore... I've never been to Arizona nor Utah until last week. Our sweet, week-long Southwest vacation covered the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Marble and Glen Canyons, Lake Powell and Zion National Park. The winter storm made everything less accessible but more beautiful, and added to the magic.

King Kong the Musical

 

Tonight, I had the opportunity to attend the dress rehearsal of the new King Kong musical on Broadway. It premieres on November 8. It is awe-inspiring and so worth seeing! The stage set designs are breathtaking. As well as the insanely big and life-like King Kong animatronic puppet. Here’s how the NYTimes describes it: « a moving sculpture, with sad eyes and a fearsome roar, requiring 14 performers, as well as 16 microprocessors, to operate.»
 
I made some quick drawings from my seat, in the dark. It was fascinating to watch the puppeteers maneuver the ape and at the same time continue to believe that the beast is alive and has feelings... just wow!
